The Lowell Covered Bridge has been a wonderful landmark since 1907.
It was replaced in 1945 after a truck knocked the truss out of alignment and
it was later closed to traffic in 1981.
After several years of planning, research and fund seeking it has been restored.
We are proud to announce the opening of the Lowell Covered Bridge Interpretive
Center.
The grand opening took place on July 28, 2006. Several agencies were involved
in the rehabilitation of this historic bridge.
Project partners included Lane County, Western Federal Lands - Highway Division,
Oregon Department of Transportation, Army Corp of Engineers, Willamette National
Forest, Covered Bridge Society and the City of Lowell.
Project design & construction included: OBEC Consulting Engineers, Sea Reach,
Ltd & 2G Construction.
The Interpretive Center is adjacent to a newly constructed roadside rest area.
We would like to invite all of you to come and visit the Interpretive Center
and enjoy the setting of the sun on Dexter Lake. Bring your camera! |
